I accidentally forgot and then accidentally remembered to DVR Moonlight on Friday, which is another story for another time (a tragically funny one, involving a skating rink, five wicked children's librarians, and a bald tire). I liked it. I liked it a lot. I may have a new fandom, if the show lasts, anyway.
The storyline? Meh. Bland, but easy to watch. I felt no turmoil or suspense, the suspects were LAME-O (especially the professor) and the resolution was too quickly and easily fleshed out. That's okay, because, for me, it was all about the characters. Mainly Mick and Beth.
I enjoyed watching Alex O'Loughlin. He's hot and charismatic. And hot. His American accent was pretty decent, I think. I need to watch everything that's he's been in, because, well...he's hot.
Sophia Myles reminds me a bit of Kate Winslet. I've seen her in Art School Confidential and Underworld, and her face stays with you. I was figuring that Beth would be a little bit, I don't know, lustier, but that wouldn't have worked. I like the fact that she's an intelligent woman, not overly extraordinary in any way, just a nice person with investigative talents.
Josef creeped me out. The freshies? Vintage 1982? Ech. But I suppose we need a suave, seductive, slightly evil bloodsucker to remind us that this is indeed a vampire show. I just hate the lack of eye contact when he's talking to Mick.
Oh, Coraline, you're going to let us think that you're dead right up until Mick and Beth do the nasty, and then you just gonna pop up and ruin everything, aren't you? You bitch. I hate you already. But you are kinda badass.
But, oh, the best part is Mick/Beth. There's no way they aren't supposed to end up together. I would think that it might destroy any lovely tension, since it's so obvious, but GOSH they're both so pretty, and it just makes my toes curl with glee.
I really, REALLY hope the show makes it. The previews at the end got my heart pounding (see below), so if it gets canceled, please pray that they'll release all the episodes on DVD someday. *crosses fingers*
