I'm still hooked. The show didn't waver on its second outing, it only got stronger and more fun to watch.
The best part, of course, was the last scene. This seems to be the pattern. The last scene will always make you clutch your chest and weep. Okay, that was just me, but I bet some of you did the same.
Lee Jay was far more sinister and believable than last week's villain, the LEWZER professor. That meant a higher amount of tension and all-around watchability (is that a word?) versus the premiere.
HAHAHA OMG Josef is pimp. Duran Duran? I love it. I could have done without the whole Mick-was-just-as-sleazy-as-Josef-once-up on-a-time scene, but then again, we see the change that taking Beth's kidnapping case brought upon Mick.
Josh is a dork. But since he's in with the D.A., I figure he'll be sticking around for a while, if only to help Mick and Beth with cases. I feel bad for him, he's not totally unlikeable, I guess, but um....he ain't no Mick. Sorry.
Two favorite lines? "I would never have known about the internet...World of WarCraft, etc." and "I thought I told you to stay in the car." I laughed so hard at both. CAN'T YOU SEE HIM PLAYING WoW? Hahaha!
Someone on the Mick/Beth forum talked about how realistic Beth's reaction to shooting Lee Jay was. I completely agree. Most shows have these kick-ass women with devil-may-care attitudes who wouldn't even have blinked while shooting the bad guy. And that's okay. We need bad-ass women on television. They don't have to all be that way, though. From the look on her face, you could tell that Beth was scared and horrified by what she had done. Very well acted, so props to Sophia Myles.
One thing that really bothers me about this show...and it's the only thing...Jesus, enough with the very badly-executed car scenes. Please, no more blue-screen, no more really bad leans when the car is "turning". It's making me cringe. Make it stop.
Some nice looks passed between Beth and Mick in this episode. I'm feeling more and more like I'd prefer watching this romance unfold slowly, because that eye contact thing is really nice.
Anyway, back to that last scene. Did you not want to hug him and make him all better? I loved how Alex played it: trembling, gasping, practically drooling, and it makes you realize that being a vampire isn't all that glamorous. It's a curse. Wow, but didn't he look handsome while all this was happening? I can't wait to see what happens next week. Hopefully they'll pick it up right where this episode left off. I'm already counting the minutes.
It's not up on iTunes yet, but I'll keep checking.
